18th Brigade, 45th Group, 39th Engineers, Company D

 

Here is Captain Marty Walsh's comments about this reunion -

D/39th had a very nice, very short notice 2d mini-reunion over Memorial Day weekend in Sweetwater, TN. It started with the Youngs meeting up for a few hours with the Wests. Lots of those reasonably nearby jumped at the opportunity to "crash" the original linkup, originally set up as a nice 4 person lunch.

We had Lima Reunion attendees Ray and Mary Young, Jeff May and wife, Julius Moody and wife and me. We also had 6 other great company mates that attended: from my time in the company, Randy West and wife, David Stubblefield, Clarence Taylor and our great 2d Platoon Leader Glenn Buford; and, 2 fine men who joined the company and served after I left - General Campbell with his family and Harvey Blair who drove all the way from New Mexico. It was a pleasure meeting them. We almost had our 3d Platoon Leader and XO Charlie Harrell and his wife, 3d Platoon Leader Jim Shamblen and Ron Pifer, but all had conflicts and couldn't make it. It was wonderful visiting with everyone. I'm looking forward to the next.
